Blowing warm? We find the leak before we add refrigerant.
It is blowing warm in August, or barely blowing at all, or it smells. We check the system where the car sits: pressures, the compressor, the blower, the cabin filter. We find the leak if there is one, and recharge or repair it with a written estimate first.

You notice
- Air that is cool at speed but warm at a stop light.
- Weak airflow, or a musty smell when it first comes on.
- A clutch that clicks on and off repeatedly, or a compressor that never engages.
- It worked last summer and does not this one.
What we do
- 01Measure high- and low-side pressures and check the compressor, clutch and condenser fan.
- 02Find leaks with dye or a detector before adding refrigerant — a recharge alone does not fix a leak.
- 03Replace a clogged cabin air filter if that is the airflow problem.
- 04Repair, evacuate and recharge to the specified weight, then verify the vent temperature.
Where it happens
Driveway or parking lot, engine running for the test. Refrigerant work is done to the regulations that govern it; we tell you if a repair needs a shop's equipment.
By California law, on every job
- A written estimate — and your OK — before any work starts.
- Nothing above the estimate without your authorization.
- An itemized invoice that says whether parts were new, used or rebuilt.
Business & Professions Code §9884.8–9884.10; 16 CCR §3353, §3353.1, §3356.

The studio
Clogged cabin filter → new
If the A/C smells or barely blows, this is the first thing we check.

A/C — straight answers
If the system is low, it has a leak — refrigerant does not get used up. We find the leak and quote the fix, then recharge to the correct weight; topping up alone is money that escapes again.
Moisture and mold on the evaporator, or a dirty cabin air filter that has never been changed. A new filter and a clean of the system is where we start, and it is often all the smell needs.
On many cars yes, on some no — it depends on access and whether the system needs parts beyond the compressor. The diagnosis tells us, and the estimate says plainly what can be done on site.
