Check-engine light read at your car, not at a counter.
The light is on and you have no idea whether it is a loose gas cap or something serious. We scan it where the car sits, read the live data rather than just the code, explain it in plain words, and quote the fix before anything is replaced.

You notice
- The check-engine light is on, or flashing.
- Rough idle, hesitation, poor fuel economy, or a new smell.
- The car runs fine but the light will not go away.
- A parts-store code read that left you with a number and no answer.
What we do
- 01Read the fault codes and the freeze-frame and live data behind them.
- 02Test the suspect — a sensor, a coil, a vacuum leak — instead of replacing by code.
- 03Explain what the light means for the car, and what happens if you wait.
- 04Quote the repair in writing; fix it there if it is a driveway job.
Where it happens
Anywhere the car can idle for a while — the driveway or your work parking lot. If the light is flashing, stop driving and call; that one is urgent.
By California law, on every job
- A written estimate — and your OK — before any work starts.
- Nothing above the estimate without your authorization.
- An itemized invoice that says whether parts were new, used or rebuilt.
Business & Professions Code §9884.8–9884.10; 16 CCR §3353, §3353.1, §3356.

Check-engine light — straight answers
Yes. A flashing light means the engine is misfiring right now, which can damage the catalytic converter quickly. Park it and call us; a steady light can wait for a convenient time.
You can, and it is a useful first step — but a code names the circuit that complained, not the part that failed. The diagnostic tests the cause so you do not buy a sensor for a wiring fault.
We clear it after the cause is fixed, not before; clearing a light without fixing the fault just hides it until the next drive cycle. If you only want the read and the explanation, that is fine too.
A lit check-engine light fails California's inspection, which only a state-authorized station can perform — not a mobile mechanic. We diagnose and fix the cause first so the car is ready for that station.
Something else? Call (323) 413-4378 — a real answer beats a guess.
