Frank's Mobile Mechanic 24/7

Mobile service · the Valley

Car won't start? We come to you in the Valley.

It turns over and dies, or clicks, or does nothing at all. You are not moving it anywhere. We come to the car, work out which of the three usual suspects it is (battery, starter, alternator), and fix it where it sits, with a written estimate before anything is replaced.

A black sedan raised on a jack at the front in an apartment driveway, a jump pack and tools on the ground beside it.

You notice

  • A click, a rapid ticking, or silence when you turn the key.
  • Dash lights that dim or flicker while cranking.
  • It started fine yesterday and the lights were left on, or nothing was left on at all.
  • It jump-starts but dies again once the cables are off.

What we do

  1. 01Test the battery under load, not just the voltage at rest.
  2. 02Check the starter draw and the charging output from the alternator.
  3. 03Look for the boring causes first: corroded terminals, a loose ground, a drained battery.
  4. 04Tell you what it is, what it costs, and fix it there, or tell you plainly if it needs a shop.

Where it happens

Driveway, apartment lot, work parking lot or the shoulder — wherever the car is. Have the key and, if you can, the year, make and model ready when you call or text.

By California law, on every job

  • A written estimate — and your OK — before any work starts.
  • Nothing above the estimate without your authorization.
  • An itemized invoice that says whether parts were new, used or rebuilt.

Car won't start — straight answers

  • A battery usually dies quietly and a jump gets you going; an alternator that is failing lets the car die again while it runs. We test both before replacing either, so you pay for the part that is actually broken.

  • Yes. Anywhere we can legally park beside it and open the hood. If access is tight (a gated lot, a stacked garage) tell us when you call (323) 413-4378 and we plan for it.

  • We can jump it, but if the cause is a weak battery or a failing alternator a jump only moves the breakdown down the road. We tell you what we found and let you decide with the estimate in front of you.

  • The estimate says which part and what it costs before anything is ordered. Common batteries, starters and alternators are sourced locally; if a part has to be ordered, you know the timing before you commit.

Something else? Call (323) 413-4378 — a real answer beats a guess.
